Associated Builders and Contractors Will Announce the CPOY Award Winner on March 28
Joel Newton, Windemuller Detail Manager, has been selected as one of three finalists for Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) 2019 Craft Professional of the Year (CPOY) Award.
Finalists were selected from applicants throughout the country who best demonstrated a passion for the trades, taking pride in hands-on work and the satisfaction of a job well done to benefit both the construction industry and the greater community.
“Joel Newton absolutely exemplifies what this award is all about and I’m thrilled he is getting recognition for his achievements,” said Windemuller Vice President, Jim Rose. “Joel is passionate about his work, serves as a mentor to his colleagues, serves as a leader in his community and is an all-around incredible person.”
Joel joined the military straight out of high school. When he returned home, he took a job with a local electrical contractor and found that he really enjoyed the hands-on learning experience and the diversity of projects he worked on.
Joel would tell you that one of his greatest accomplishments was obtaining his journeyman’s license and progressing into the next phase of his career. Now, Joel gives back by mentoring young apprentices and even hosts study groups at his house to get apprentices ready for their journeyman test.
When asked why he has such a passion for the trades, Joel responded: “I love the construction industry because it challenges me both physically and mentally – it requires me to be the best that I can be and it gives me an opportunity to give back by teaching others a trade they can use to become a better person.”
What does winning the Craft Professional of the Year Award mean to Joel? “The answer is easy,” said Joel, “To be recognized for going to work and doing something that I love every day is probably the best recognition that anyone can get. It doesn’t seem like I go to work because I’m happy and I want to be there. To be honored for that is another blessing in my life.”
The winner of the Craft Professional of the Year will be announced on March 28th at ABC Convention in Long Beach.
